Your part in the FUTURE
Twenty miles lie between Boston and Wayland. Racial and cultural differences
may also exist. The FUTURE needs us to make these realities into assets
and not into barriers. Participate and support the events and programs
listed below.
VOLUNTEER
Become a Family Friend. Students need support to nurture long distance
friendships. This program matches Boston and Wayland resident families
attending Wayland's elementary and middle schools. Families are encouraged
to meet. They are also encouraged to attend special social activities
and/or participate at regular school functions together. Transportation
is provided for special scheduled play dates.
Become a Boston Council/PTO Liaison. Our two communities are active
in planning for the future of our children and schools. We need representatives
from the Boston Parent Council and each school's PTO to be in regular
contact, reporting at respective meetings whatever is deemed relevant.
Become a part of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Dinner.
This dinner and program is focused on the meaning of Dr. King's work.
Planning for publicity, programming, dinner menu and workshops needs
to start the Fall before the event that occurs the third Friday in
January.
Volunteer opportunities are innumerable.

SPONSORSHIP
We need creative and effective programming; to support
Wayland students who are Boston residents as they attend school in
Wayland, and to realize the dream and vision of the METCO program.
But programming takes money. Can you help?
