July 1 Dr. Nicki Newton

Dr. Nicki Newton, author of Guided Math in Action will give a keynote presentation on Day 1 of the Mathematics Institute.  Dr. Newton is an education consultant who works with schools and districts around the country on elementary math curriculum (including best practices, guided math and math centers) as well as curriculum mapping.

July 2:  Kassia Omohundro Wedekind

Kassia Omohundro Wedekind, author of Math Exchanges, will give a keynote presentation on Day 2 of the Mathematics Institute.  Kassia has been both a classroom teacher and a math coach with a professional passion of building strong mathematical communities in which teachers guide children’s development as mathematicians through problem solving and an understanding of how children learn about math.
