WSCP administers and operates Wayland Public School programs available to the community on a fee basis, offering school year and summer programs for preschool and school-age students, as well as enrichment classes and creative opportunities for adults. Many programs for children include extended hours, providing an important service for the community's young families.
February and April Vacation Week Programs
WSCP offers year-round programming for preschoolers through adults.
The Children's Way is a preschool program located in the Wayland Town Building; there are five classrooms for two-to-five year old children.
- BASE offers before-school programming in three schools and after-school programming in four schools.
- During February and April vacation weeks, WSCP offers K-5 programming, usually held at Loker School.
- Pegasus is a summer enrichment program for preschool through entering Grade 3.
Are you looking for school vacation week programming? WSCP offers February and April Vacation Week programs with flexible scheduling. A calendar listing the daily schedule is distributed in advance through each school, and children may enroll for one, two, three, or four days.
The programs at Loker School are for children in Kindergarten through Grade Five. Each day offers a mix of free play and scheduled activity periods for cooking, science, arts and crafts, active games, music, and more. Children enjoy special events daily. A typical week might include field trips for mini-golf, bowling, or roller skating and/or make-your-own-pottery. In 2015-16, Beehive Art - which operates a studio in Wayland - led art workshops at Loker in the afternoon and a STEM specialist from STEM Beginnings in Shrewsbury (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) presented STEM workshops.

Kindergarten Extended Day. The Extended Day program begins when morning kindergarten ends and continues until 3:00 pm (1:50 pm, Wednesdays). A hot lunch is served in the cafeteria or children may bring lunch. In individual classrooms, activities blend free play and structured time. Projects are designed to tap into each child's uniqueness and creativity. Extended Day gives kindergartners a chance to meet children who may not be in their morning class, thus creating many opportunities for children to grow socially.
Grades 1 - 4 After-School. To ensure a spot for your child, please enroll as soon as possible. We always maintain a wait list and notify families when openings are available. There is a two-day minimum, and no drop-ins are allowed in the after-school programs.
Wayland Middle School (Grades 5-8) After-School. The program offers sports and games, arts and crafts, sewing, community service, cooking, walking trips in the neighborhood, and scheduled homework time. Fifth graders attend the BASE middle school program; a Wayland Public School bus provides transportation. There is a two-day minimum.
