BASE Kindergarten Programs

BASE offers a number of programs for kindergarteners. Programming starts at 7:00 am for the before-school option, and extended day programs begin at 12:20 pm and 3:15 pm (2:05 pm on Wednesdays) and end at 6:00 pm.

Before-School      7:00 am - 8:30 am or 8:00 am - 8:30 am

Kindergarteners may enroll in a before-school program (7:00 am - 8:30 am). Enrollment can be on a scheduled, contract basis or families can register on a drop-in or as-needed basis. Contracted times are 7:00 am - 8:30 am, 90 minutes, or 8:00 am - 8:30 am, 30 minutes.  Before-school programs are mixed age programs in all three elementary schools with activities and materials appropriate for Kindergarten - Grade 5 children.

Kindergarten BASE Explorers     12:20 pm - 3:15 pm

Dismissal time on Wednesdays is 2:05 pm.

Update: May 1, 2018    If interested in enrolling in Kindergarten Explorers, email or call her at 508-358-8616. While other BASE programs are at maximum enrollment, there are still openings for Kindergarten Explorers.

This is an option for children enrolled in the school district's traditional Kindergarten program, which is a half-day offering.  It continues until the end of the school day but offers families flexible scheduling and does not require attending for five days weekly.

Offered in all three elementary schools only if enrollment is sufficient.

BASE Explorers

The curriculum offers daily, weekly, and monthly projects that honor each group's developmental levels and interests.
Story Book.png Small and large group activities and a balance of indoor and outdoor play enhance the enrichment experiences. The Explorers' diverse curriculum, skilled BASE teachers, and schedule paced for young learners support children's social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
The Explorers' schedule facilitates imaginative play and social relationships by giving children the time and space they need to learn and practice new skills. The pace is designed to support growth in many developmental areas.

Typical activities include music, dance, construction and building, drawing, painting, open-ended crafts, gym games and sports, outdoor time, and science and nature. Social relationships are emphasized as young learners discover what it's like to work with peers in both small and large groups.

2:05 pm - 4:45 pm or 6:00 pm

Programs are in all three elementary schools, which offer programming for Kindergarten through Grade 3 students. For kindergarteners, BASE after the school dismissal occurs is a time for hands-on, fun activities, a time when children choose from a range of activity options presented by the BASE teaching staff. Each afternoon includes outdoor play on the playground structures, in the sandbox, or on the playing fields.

During activity time, children seem to relish the chance to make an activity choice, whether it be a nature walk, gym game, creative art project, or music. Free play is an important part of each day as children's friendships develop and deepen. For Kindergarteners, activities like building with MagnaTiles, wooden blocks, and K'Nex are always popular as are extended time for drawing and dramatic play.
