This year there will be programs offered at both Claypit Hill and Loker Schools with two joint concerts culminating each of the two semesters. Ms. Patrice Buckley - an experienced music teacher and choral director - will continue to lead the groups.

Fee:  $200 per session

Please Note:  Families may choose whichever location works for them. There is a 15-minute travel time built into the schedule to accommodate those traveling from other schools.

Yoga for Grades K-2  - Class is fully enrolled.

DESCRIPTION:   A new yoga class will use calm breathing, stories, movement, team-building, mindful moments, and games to teach children yoga poses and help them build confidence.  Amy Hrobak, instructor, is a registered yoga instructor and Cambridge Public School district social worker.

She has been teaching yoga and mindfulness to children since 2010.

DATES:  Tuesdays, November 15 - December 20, 2016

STEM classes debuted in Wayland schools in the fall of 2015 to great success. STEM classes offer fun-filled and exciting programs focused on building and sustaining interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. The goal is to introduce these concepts at an early age through enjoyable and fun activities that incorporate STEM concepts into play or everyday activities.  Children explore with LEGO Bricks, Kapla blocks, K'nex education sets, Snap Circuits, and other STEM toys. The key notion is that children learn best when they are having fun.

 Beehive ART Offers New Round of Workshops

 Kindergarten through Grade 3 artists at Claypit Hill School enjoying Beehive Arts Mixed Media Workshop this fall have a chance to continue in the after-school program when the current session ends.

 Kim Poler, owner of Beehive Art’s Concord Road, Wayland, studio, is adding another school-based, six week program in response to parent requests. The new sessions are open to all interested K-3 students.

There are six classes on Mondays from 3 pm – 4 pm, beginning November 14th and continuing until December 19, 2016.   Sessions provide an introduction to exciting art techniques taught in a variety of mediums, including watercolor, oil pastel, paint, photo, print and pattern collage, and 3-D sculpture. Participants will explore making books and prints, constructing sculptures and mobiles, and experimenting with spin art, toy making and miniatures.

Through this program, the young adolescent explores a personal interest and hosts a short, live talk show with peers or others as special guests.
As a host, the "star" will demonstrate excellent face-to-face communication skills, share excitement about a passion - whether it be fashion, sports, art, or more - and through hands-on activities, tap into greater excitement and openness about learning.

The goal is to introduce these concepts at an early age through enjoyable and fun activities that incorporate STEM concepts into play or everyday activities.  Children explore with LEGO Bricks, Kapla blocks, K'nex education sets, Snap Circuits, and other STEM toys. The key notion is that children learn best when they are having fun.

TIME:   1:50 pm - 3 pm (Students come upon dismissal and may bring a peanut-free snack to eat before activities begin.)
