VACATION WEEK PROGRAMS - February and April

Are you looking for school vacation week programming?  WSCP offers a February and an April Vacation Week program with flexible scheduling. A calendar listing the daily schedule is distributed in advance through each school, and children may enroll for one, two, three, or four days.

The programs are  held at Loker School and are for children in Kindergarten through Grade Five. Each day offers a mix of free play and scheduled activity periods for cooking, science, arts and crafts, active games, music, and more. Children also enjoy special events daily. A typical week might include field trips for mini-golf, bowling, or roller skating and/or make-your-own-pottery or a drama workshop. A trip to a local pizzeria for a tour and pizza-making is always a highlight as is the chance to dine together in a restaurant.

Information is distributed through the schools, and more information is always available through the WSCP Director Brian Jones (Brian_Jones@wayland.k12.ma.us) or 508-655-6404.

Kindergarten Extended Day Openings. The Extended Day program begins when morning kindergarten ends and continues until 2:45 pm (1:35 pm, Wednesdays).  A hot lunch is served in the cafeteria. In individual classrooms, activities blend free play and structured time.  Projects are designed to tap into each child's uniqueness and creativity. Extended Day gives kindergartners a chance to meet children who may not be in their morning class, thus creating many opportunities for children to grow socially.

Grades 1 - 4 After-School Openings. Claypit Hill and Happy Hollow have openings in their after-school programs. There is a two-day minimum, and no drop-ins are allowed. To guarantee families' needs are met as quickly as possible, wait lists are established when the programs are fully enrolled, and parents are called as soon as openings exist.

Wayland Middle School (Grades 5-8) After-School Openings. There are openings in the Wayland Middle School program on all days. The program offers sports and games, arts and crafts, community service, cooking, walking trips in Cochituate (weather permitting) and scheduled homework time. Fifth graders from the two elementary schools attend the BASE middle school program; a Wayland Public School bus provides transportation. There is a two-day minimum.

For enrollment information in BASE programs, call WSCP at 508-655-6403.
