Substitute Teachers

In the Wayland Public Schools, substitute teachers are used at the elementary and middle schools.  The school principal or a designee at each school will call substitutes to fill teacher absences.

Certification or experience in any particular field is not required to be added to our substitute teacher list. Teachers are expected to leave detailed lessons plans or an alternate activity if a substitute is not knowledgeable in that area.

Substitutes are needed.  To be added to the Substitute Teacher List, an application and CORI request authorization must be submitted.

Your inclusion on the Substitute List is contingent upon favorable review of a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) report and national criminal background check through the Statewide Applicant Fingerprint Identification Services (SAFIS) Program.  Applicants for substitute teaching must appear in person at one of the schools or the Central Office to sign a CORI request authorization and present a government-issued photo I.D. (e.g., license or passport). No appointment is necessary. Call (508) 358-3766 for directions or further information.
